Golf Outing and Fundraiser

The morning of Monday, June 22, 2015 dawned bright and clear with a crystal blue sky and brilliant summer sunshine – a perfect day for the St. James Parish annual golf outing!

Over 100 golfers gathered at St. George’s Golf and Country Club in Stony Brook to enjoy the Deveraux  Emmett designed, par 71 links style course, which was in perfect condition, providing just the right mix of challenging bunkers guarding the greens, and wide, forgiving fairways.

Late afternoon found golfers and non-golfers alike gathered in the comfortable clubhouse dining room to enjoy each other’s company as well as a scrumptious cocktail buffet. It’s easy to see why this annual event is eagerly anticipated; a relaxing day on the course in bucolic surroundings while raising money for the parish is an unbeatable combination and a perfect excuse to take a day off from work.

Many thanks to Chris McKeever, Chris Fletcher and the numerous volunteers who helped organize countless details in preparation for the event, and of course a very special thanks to Mary and Paul DiBenedetto, Joan Murray and Karen Jerzembeck, who ensured smooth check in for the golfers, distributed goodie bags and encouraged golfers on the course throughout the day.

We hope you enjoy these photos which capture the spirit of the day, and will tempt you to join us in 2016!
